Summer Mini Catalogue Blog Hop

Welcome to a Summer Mini Catalogue Blog Hop and wow does it have some great designs from other Stampin' Up Demonstrators from around Australia. You may be starting here or you may have come from Nikki Sadler's blog and didn't she showcase some wonderful creations today.

I am featuring The Open Seas stamp set which also has a matching Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper.

Don't you just love all the different stamps with this set, I have used the background stamp on the Pool Party cardstock in Baja Breeze with a splashing of the compass in River Rock. I also used the River Rock ink on the Very Vanilla cardstock, which I have scuffed up with the Cutter Kit. The piece of Marina Mist has been torn at the top with the sides having the Cutter Kit applied. Finally, I have put the strip of Early Espresso cardstock through the Crimper to give more texture and then finishing it off with three Brads in Copper (which is now retired but you could use Silver Brads instead).

This card is a case of the example from in the Summer Mini Catalogue with a few changes as I did not have all the items featured.

Here is a close up of the tags, they were so much fun to make and to explain to my guests at my class that you can extend the size of the tags using the tag punches.

Finally I have been completing lots of scrapbooking pages of my life and here is the page on my trip to Sydney in 2010, where I was lucky enough to be staying at Darling Harbour and the day before I arrived Jessica Watson had finished her around the world adventure in this tiny little boat which just inspired me to use the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper.

I am sharing with you a scrapbooking page that I completed a couple of weeks ago which will be included in my album that I am creating for my 40th birthday celebrations next week.

I have punched out three hearts in gold which were inspired by the one we were given to wear at the St Valentine's Masquerade Ball and I have stamped around the hearts with the "be mine" stamp from the Sweetheart stamp set.

Festive Friday Challenge ... Wow I am on the Design Team

I have taken a break from my blog prior to Christmas, but today I have some exciting news to share with you all...

A fellow South Australian, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Nicole Derendorf recently asked me to join the Festive Fridays Challenge Design Team. Wow, what a privilege to be part of a wonderful and very talented group of ten ladies.

The Challenges will start next week and each week we will showcase several samples of cards appropriate for the season. In the next couple of weeks we will showcase Valentine’s cards (well in my case it will be a scrapbooking page), and in March it will be Easter cards and each week in between we will be inspiring you with Christmas cards.

Christmas Blog Hop

The count down to Christmas has begun and to celebrate this season, I am participating in a Christmas Blog Hop with some of my Stampin' Up Demonstrators friends. If you are starting here or you have come via Judy May's blog you are in for a fun filled time.

I hope to give you some inspiration, firstly I was very excited that finally Stampin' Up! have released a beautiful nativity scene, Tidings of Joy ($36.95 wood mount, $29.95 clear mount) and it was first on my list with the new Idea Book and Catalogue.

For the below card I stamped the image in Chocolate Chip and then with the aqua painter filled with water I coloured in the image to give it some highlights taking the colour from the inside cover of the Soft Suede Stampin' pad. Sorry my photos are not the best, it was very overcast when I took them last night. For some extra texture I put the Bashful Blue card stock through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impression Embossing Folder and finished with a lovely Chocolate Chip ribbon.

My second stamp set I have featured is Tags til Christmas ($59.95 wood mount, $47.95 clear mount) which I was very fortunate to win at the Stampin' Up! Convention earlier this year. I have made a lolly bag and a couple of gift tags which are very simple but very stunning! (well I think so...again my photos do not show them in the best light).

Chinese Whispers Round One Blog Hop

Don't you always love a challenge, well a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators decided to do a chain card - well that's the name I thought of! But Tina is calling it Chinese Whispers!

The very talented Tina Gillespie got this idea from another talented creater Sarah Klass and here is how it works. Tina made a card then she emailed the photo to the next person on this list (which in this case was me) and then that person makes a card that was inspired by that card and emails the photo to the next lady and so on.

Fresh Cuts - Retired Stamp Set

I have made it to the weekend! I went back to work on Tuesday after six weeks leave and that had so many challenges way too many to tell here and then on Wednesday morning I dropped a very heavy and large drawer on my big toe. It is very bruised and throbbing but with a relaxing few days ahead hopefully I will be able to put some "normal" shoes back on soon.

This card is a case with a few colour and design changes from the very talented Marelle Taylor. I stamped the background in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla cardstock, then to give it some colour I used a sponge dauber in Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery on top. To give further definition I used the flower stamp in Pacific Point which I stamped off once onto scrap paper.

Time is ticking away on the retired items and quite a few are no longer available. The Fresh Cuts stamp set is only $29.21 reduced from $38.95 and the matching Fresh Cut Notes (15 Whisper White Cards with the 5 petals cut out and Envelopes) normally $17.50 now $13.13 available until sold out.

I had some wonderful news that a good friend and his partner welcomed a little girl into world last night. I was really excited to make this card as it did take me quite a while this afternoon to complete as I don't really have any stamp sets for little ones so I did a bit of blog surfing and was reminded about these lovely prams.

All A Flutter - Retiring Stamp

Another day, another creation using a retiring stamp, this time the beautiful little butterfly, All A Flutter for only $12.95. I did get inspiration for this cute little card from someone but I saved it such a long time ago I can not remember who did design it.

To create the background, I stamped the En Francais background stamp in Basic Black on a square of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped it off once and only pressed down on the edges to get a white space in the middle. I then used lots of sponging with three shades of Pink, firstly Pretty in Pink then Regal Rose and finally Rich Razzleberry on the edges.

The butterfly was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black ink and then coloured in with Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Markers all blended from the palest pink in the middle to the darkest on the edges.

I am back...Kimberley Adventure Tour

Sorry I have not posted any creations in a long time but I only arrived back just over a week ago from a fantastic 3 week holiday to Broome and the Kimberley's in Western Australia.

Wow, wow, wow the landscape and scenery was beautiful as were the friends I have made on the tour. Congratulations to APT on the professional tour and guide and the famous wilderness lodges, very much "glamping" not camping.

I have now lived out one of my dreams seeing the Bungle Bungle Ranges from both the ground and air (it did take me four years after my Red Centre, Darwin and Kakadu trip).

Yes that is me in Cathedral Gorge, I am just so small compared to this rock formation.

Pocket Silhouettes

Sorry I have not been updating my blog regularly of late as I have not had enough time, I have still been creating and hosting my Stampin' Up! classes.

This card we made at my May class which was inspired by the Stampin' Up! Convention as I had not used the Shimmer Paint until I did the make 'n takes, well sometimes you just need to see it used in real life. This photo does not do the shimmer and sparkle justice as in real life either, but I have added the Shimmer Paint with a sponge bauber to the three images.

I am using one of the inexpensive and very versatile stamp sets, Pocket Silhouettes ($33.95 wood mount) for 4 lovely images and two sentiments "thanks so much" and "friend to friend".

I was inspired by Bonnie from the Stampin' Up Home Office at Convention last month, and I finally made the wonderful Cup Cake Holder and Topper which she demonstrated. I chose the colours for this 3D project to participate in the UStamp with Dawn and Friends Blog Hop Creative Challenge. I could not find a lovely cup cake on a Sunday here in the Adelaide Hills so I had to use a blueberry muffin but it would look so much nicer with an iced cup cake.

I am currently training the new lady and have another three weeks work before I am having an extended break for six weeks which will include a trip to the Kimberley's in Western Australia ... and yes I am counting down the days. I will then return to work as a receptionist so I will be able to go home without any worries - well that's my plan!

Well back to stamping, I have been holding my classes each month and they have been very well attended so I have been stamping but not as much as I would have liked. Today I am sharing with you a card that I maded in two of my classes in April which features the Build a Cupcake punch from the mini catalogue. As I had punched out too many circles I decided to recreate the card with some added detail, which I have discovered from various blogs that they say it is "stepped up".

At long last I have time to share with you the Stampin' Up! Convention Awards and Dinner photos, and wow it was a fantastic evening. We all got dressed up in our finest clothes and enjoyed a fun filled time with delicious food and wonderful entertainment.

One of the Stampin' Up! traditions that I have learnt from the previous Convention is everyone needs to share with their blog readers the food - what a yummy meal we had.

Entree - Tortelloni of wild mushrooms with braised lentils and white truffle oil

Main Course - Pot-roasted Gippsland lamb with sage gnocchi, green peas, pancetta and citrus gremolata

Dessert - White chocolate and raspberry baked cheesecake with a fresh berry compote
(The chocolate 5 was in celebration of Stampin' Up! being in Australia/New Zealand for 5 years.)

Now it was time to move into the awards presentation theatre room where Shelli Gardner, CEO and Co-Founder of Stampin' Up! introduced the fun and exciting Awards.

Yes you could be off to Broome in the top of Western Australia (just where I am holidaying in five weeks time). The incentive trip is not on my agenda but go girls that have Stampin' Up! as a professional career.

Regionals were also announced for the year with Adelaide being on 17 September.

A Flower for All Season - JAI 69

I have had the stamp set, A Flower for All Season, for sometime and it has never seen any ink so I was looking for a design for my Stampin' Up! Class yesterday when I went to the Idea Book and Catalogue for some inspiration and did a little case job on this one, just with a change of colour combination. Don't forget to check out your catalogue as it has some wonderful creations that you can recreate in a matter of minutes if you are lacking your mojo.

This set is very inexpensive at only $24.95 which gives you four different images. I stamped my images in Chocolate Chip (as I find Basic Black too stark) and then used lots of yellows, oranges and reds in the markers. It was great to see all the different colour combinations from the 7 ladies that attended my class.

I just noticed that the Just Add Ink Challenge this week is Just Add Fussing Cutting so I thought it would also qualify for this one.

Stampin' Up! Convention

I have had a busy week since I arrived back from the Stampin' Up! Convention in Melbourne on Monday but I have finally found a few minutes to share with you a few photos and highlights on the three fun filled days.

Going through all my photos I realised that we had so many sneak peaks of new stamps set that will only will be released in the new Idea Book and Catalogue so I can not share with you all these. There were many wow demonstrations and wow they were, I have already cased a card for my card class this Saturday.

All 450 Demonstrators were very spoilt as we received 3 stamp sets and Simply Sent pack and I also won a Christmas stamp set and the Framed Tulips Textured Impression Embossing Folder in the Prize Patrol which I was so excited to receive.

Bouncing Brayer Technique

I was doing a little search on youtube to find a technique that I had not heard of before and I came across the Bouncing Brayer technique. If you would like to find out more about this technique there is step by step instructions on Splitcoast Stampers.

Well here is my very bright and cheerful card, and since it reflects Spring I might just enter it into Shelli Gardner's challenge, April Showers Bring - Creative Challenge which is very much a first for me...but I am really happy with this card especially when the technique was new and exciting for me.

I think the bouncing brayer in Regal Rose just looks like rays of sunshine and I chose one of my very favourite stamp sets, Petal Pizzazz that has not seen ink for quite a while for the layered flower and the sentiment comes from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue, Thanks for Caring.

JAI 65 - ANZAC Day...We Remember

ANZAC Day is a very special day in Australian and New Zealand history. ANZAC stands for the Australia New Zealand Army Corporation and it is significant because on the 25th of April 1915, both countries were involved in a difficult battle on the shores of Gallipoli.

On that fateful day our troops landed on a beach at dawn (now called ANZAC Cove) on the Turkish peninsula . They suffered a terrible defeat but our men fought with great bravery. The battle really highlighted the character traits of mateship and sacrifice. We talk about the Anzac Spirit which was born that day and use the term as a mark of great respect. Australians and New Zealanders commemorate this day with Dawn Services and Anzac Day Marches to remember those who fought and gave their lives for their country, not only in World War 1 but in all subsequent wars.

So with ANZAC Day in mind the Just Add Ink Challenge has a special theme ... Just Add Mateship/Friendship to your paper craft project.

My card is inspired by remembering the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom. I have so much respect for those diggers and I am very proud to be an Australian on this day - ANZAC Day.

They shall grow not old , as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them , nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

My card for the challenge is inspired by the card by Mae Collins using the flower from Friends Never Fade, which looks a lot like the poppy.

Yes, what a very special and uplifting day...He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

I attended Easter Sunday church service and then invited the family to share the day with me at my home. Beautiful weather, wonderful family and glorious food, what a fantastic day.

I would like to share with you today the cute Easter Bunny Lolly Pops that I made last Sunday with the JAM (Jesus and Me) children. Aren't they so cute!

Easter is a very special time of the year for Christians with Jesus dying on the cross for all of us.

Last Sunday, I made some of these boxes with the St John's Lutheran Church, Woodside JAM (Jesus and Me or Sunday School) children, I had everything precut and they just needed to constructed the boxes, use a sponge dauber to make some grass, then cut out the cross and then decorate with joining 5 of the leaves from the bird punch to form the wreath of thorns.

We had so much fun, the older children are so beautiful they help the little ones. I bought the Easter Bunnies and Eggs to pop in their boxes as a special Easter treat. I will back in a day or two to share the Easter Bunny Lolly Pop that we also made.

Sometimes I forget to share with you cards that I make for my classes and today when I was downloading some photos I came across these cards that I made for a Class in January. I had a huge crowd for this class as they were lots of children, I decided to give the option of two stamp sets for the same design as I had already cut up alot of the cardstock in preparation.

The first one uses the Totally Tools stamp set which makes great cards for men and the second one was especially for the children using the Fox and Friends stamp set. The children enjoyed using the jumbo wheel and all the punches.

Hi everyone, the weather is just so beautiful today! I have been spending a lazy day at home doing some reading under my pergola with the birds singing - a real treat.

I was about to put away some stamping supplies that were on my kitchen table and I thought why don't I do the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge as I was inspirated by Nikki Sadler's card from the Sale-A-Brations Blog Hop yesterday...so here is my take on these colours.

I have had a brayer for quite some time now but it only touched ink last weekend for the first time when I designed a card ready for my Easter Class in March, well I think I am doing well for such a novice.

UStamp with Dawn and Friends - "O"h My Wreath

Wow, two posts in two days...I am sharing with you today my project that I designed for UStamp with Dawn and Friends Oh My Word! And Oh my I did have a little challenge or two for this one - I designed a Wreath out of a wooden "O" - yes OH!

I used my Big-Shot Die Cutting Machine to the max by cutting out all the leaves and then texturing all the leaves with the Impressions Embossing Folder and then for greater depth I used my sponge dauber around all those leaves and butterflies. Not a quick project but I think a very effective and stunning finished creation.

I celebrated my birthday on Thursday and I received some lovely handcrafted cards from some of my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Friends Christine Blain, Elaine Hannam, Nikki Sadler and Kimmy Meiklejohn...oh I am so lucky to have "crafty" friends all around Australia.

I also received these beautiful flowers from my work, they made me feel very special and bright and cheerful.

I have just remembered that I have not shared with my blog viewers my project for UStamp with Dawn and Friends Year End Blow Out. I love being a Guest Designer for Dawn Rapsas, she is such a lovely and vibrant lady and I have "met" so many wonderful stamping friends all around the world.

We had the challenge to use a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock or designer series paper...well I could not go past making a One Sheet Wonder with a piece of bright and cheerful Designer Series Paper. It surprises my how many projects you can create with just one piece of Greenhouse Gala DSP. Just Add Ink #51 - All A Flutter

I have just finished this card which I have been working on for a while as it was a real challenge for me as I wanted to complete the challenge Just Add Monochrome with different shades of grey as I had posted a colour challenge with a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and I needed to post an example.

Well I then worked out I dont have any grey inks so I went with white embossing on grey cardstock and I had to use a Basic Black ink on Whisper White. I only had a tiny peice of Basic Grey satin ribbon left so I put that to use as well, I hope you like what I came up with, its not my best work but it was not too bad under my circumstances.

Back to work tomorrow after my on again off again holidays so you will not see so many posts.

Queensland Floods

My thoughts and prayers with everyone that has been effected by the Queensland Floods and looks like the top part of New South Wales have also been affected as well. Even here in South Australia's Riverland there has been some flash flooding but not to the extend of Queensland.

The Queensland Government has launched an appeal to help fellow Queenslander's affected by the recent floods. Many communities have been devastated. Some families have lost everything and tragically there are 13 people that died and some 50 people missing.

You can help make a difference by donating to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal which I did a few days ago. If you wish to make a donation to the Premier’s Disaster relief appeal go to the website link above.

At this time, the Queensland Government is inviting financial donations only (unfortunately this appeal cannot accept donations of goods or services).

ColourQ Challenge # 65 - Fifth Avenue Floral

What a lovely day it has been today to welcome in 2011, beautiful weather and I had some stamping time this afternoon in between doing some gardening.

I had to create a few cards for a couple of projects I am currently working on and decided to participate in my very first ColourQ Challenge at the same time. It's a very basic card with no accessories and emblishments but it is stylish and simple. The flowers are raised up with dimensionals to give it further depth and with the shadows of the layers of cardstock.

Two posts in two days - I must be on holidays!

I am part of group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators who decided to organise a Kris Kingle and I am sharing with you today the goodies I received, my KK was oh so very generous and what about all that handcrafted packaging with the lovely chocolates and Christmas decoration and what about all those Stampin' Up! products - music notes wheel, ribbon, mini vintage tags, vintage trinkets and crochet trim. I just love it as quite a few of those accessories are from the Summer Mini Catalogue and I was so excited when I saw it at the front door. My postman is very loved at my house as he delivers all my happy mail and I forget about those window envelopes that have the bills.

Case Study Challenge #17 - Vintage Card

I was inspired by the Case Study Challenge this week as it was a vintage creation by Nina Brackett and as I have a totally different style of cards to this theme, I would give it a go.

I had to look for some lace which was hidden in one of my boxes from years ago and then tried out a new background stamp set that I inked up for the first time, En Francias with a little flourish from my all time favourite Baroque Motifs with the sentiment coming from Contempo Christmas. I punched out three of the ornaments and stamped on both sides to create a three dimensional Christmas decoration with lots of sponging on the edges with the sponge daubers.

With constructing a vintage card, it is laying and laying of textured materials and I think I achieved it and with all the edges of cardstock sponged to give futher depth.

I am sharing a couple of cards today that my guests made at Kathryn's Card Afternoon in October for the Cancer Council's Girl's Night In events. These two cards use exactly the same cardstock with just a different colour ribbon but have a different stamp set. I have had a lovely long weekend being at home and spending some quality time stamping when I probably should have been doing the housework but the iron did get some use this morning but as the basket was overflowing no-one would be able to tell but at least I know.

Kathryn's Card Afternoon - A Big Thank You

Sorry it has taken me a week to post a round up of Kathryn's Card Afternoon for the Cancer Council's Girls Night In events. Last Saturday afternoon I was joined by 19 lovely ladies for an afternoon of fun and enjoyment, guest enjoyed a glass of champagne on arrival served with some dips and crackers (kindly donated by Ballast Stone Estate Wines and Bayleys of Strathalbyn) and then it was down to creating four handcrafted cards (which I will post in a later blog post). To date I have raised $949 which is just a fantastic effort and I thank everyone who has made this possible.

There were four work areas with a choice of two designs using the same cardstock and resources but using a different stamp set.

We had a silent auction with so many fantastic goodies donated by Stampin' Up! and we also had a raffle and door prizes.

What a fantastic day today, oh I love long weekends especially when the sun is shining. I would like to share with you my creation for UStamp with Dawn and Friends which was a swing card. I had never made one before so I had a little play before I was happy with this design using one of my favourite Christmas stamp sets, Season of Joy ($51.95 wood)

Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel

I hosted a couple of stamp-a-stacks on Saturday and Sunday, we made this Pacific Point card and the Melon Mambo/Regal Rose one is ready for this Sunday. I used the Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel ($15.95 for Jumbo Wheel and $10.95 for the Stampin' Around Jumbo Handle) with the Small Star Punch which unfortunately now is retired but you could cut out the smaller stars like I did with the big white one as I don't have the Star Extra-Large Punch ($33.95).

I would like to share with you today a card that I made at the Stampin' Up! Convention back in May as we were only allowed to share with you this stamp set, Party this Way ($26.95 wood, $21.95 clear) once it was released in September I forgot I had this card. It is a spinner card as the arrow with party spins around on a brad. Don't you just love those Bday Party rub-ons too ($16.95 for 2 sheets of 2 designs) which would make some fantastic cards or scrapbooking pages)

Here are some little boxes that I made for the ladies at my church which they were going to fill with goodies and give as thank you gifts. I did make five for them and they were such fun to create I used the Manhattan Flower Textured Impression Embossing folder on the Orchid Opulence cardstock before making the boxes to give them depth.

I made this matching box and card for a friends birthday earlier this week and I also demonstrated it for a group of ladies yesterday. It uses one of the new stamp sets from the 2010/2011 Idea Book and Catalogue, Friends Never Fade ($31.95 wood, $25.95 clear) and one which demonstrators were able to pre-order to the release on 1 September. I used the leftover piece of scallop edge cardstock from the box for the edge of the card which I think made a special touch.

Helping Hudson - Challenge 8 Technique

After stopping by at the local market and voting this morning in Australia's Federal election, I got down to the serious business of stamping (not who is going to rule Australia)!!! Helping Hudson - Challenge 9

I had the painter in this morning to do some touch ups in the kitchen, it looks nice and finished now. Later in the day, after he left I decided to pull out a new stamp set from the NEW catalogue, as demonstrators we get to order a few in advance and complete the Helping Hudson Colour Challenge, this one is you can only use one colour and a neutral - I decided to go with red and white.

Nursery Necessities...not just for new borns!

I have been going throught my stamp sets to see which ones are going to be retired at the end of the month so I can use them before they go to the back before I sell them off...today I pulled out Nursery Necessities ($56.95 - very limited stock available for this one so order asap otherwise you maybe disappointed) which is fantastic for new borns or small children but today I cased the one in the New Ideas and Catalogue which I changed the colours a little to make a masculine card.

Heavy Rains in the Adelaide Hills

I had a lovely brunch with a friend at Kelsey's Cottage at Oakbank this morning and whilst coming home I took a couple of photos of the Onkaparinga River in full flow (well not quiet as it has not rained for a good 12 hours). The last couple of days we have had lots of rain here in the Adelaide Hills which is great for filling up the reservoirs.

It would have been nice to take some photos 24 hours before as the river would have been at least 1 metre over the little ford on Walters Road as there were leaves and sticks right back where I parked my car.

Wow is it wet and windy here in Woodside, South Australia and it looks like the Southern Eastern states are sharing this winter weather too. It was a day for indoor creating and some housework, well a few cards were created and a couple loads of washing were completed but not much else!

As it was gloomy outside I decided I would use some bright colours on this card, together with one of the retiring stamps sets, Big Bold Birthday ($53.95) which I received as part of my Stampin' Up! Start Up Kit when joining as a demonstrator back in November.

Well today I finished work early and I thought I would should show you what I achieved, it's a little different style that I usually do - don't know what you call it, but I did get some inspiration from a card that I saved on my computer such a long time ago. Sorry that I can not give any recognition as I have no idea who's it was but I did use a different stamp set, colours etc so it really does not look much like it but I always like to give recognition as I would love anyone to give me any credit for inspiring them!
